[ All cats like fish and that includes Cream-san. She raises her head and sniffs the air then meows loudly. Fish!! That's absolutely the smell of fish!! Well, she wants in on that so she begins to walk on over to her owner, circling around his feet. Maybe if they do this enough, he'd feed them. ]

[ While Cream-san does that, Souji focuses on getting everything set up and working. He's no Shinjiro but he knows what he's doing. It helps that he made something like this before so this is a piece of cake. He could easily talk while seasoning two of the fillets, one for himself and one for Minato (he does not know how much Minato could eat right now...). He'll leave one unseasoned for the kitties. ]

[ He pauses for a half a second at Minato's remark because wow, dude... Did he seriously just say that with a straight face? That's kind of impressive. Souji just smiles and gives a small laugh. ]

I think I learnt my lesson with the sandwich.

[ Shirosaba is usually on the quiet side, but with food on the line, she's found her voice. Looking up at Souji, she lets out a few short mews before taking Cream-san's lead and rubbing against the back of his leg. And then the counter.

The fact that this is already proving to be less of a Fuuka disaster, Minato feels a little better about the whole thing. Not that he hasn't eaten some questionable things for the sake of finishing a social link, but he'd prefer not to if it can be avoided. ]

That's good.

[ He would not like a repeat of last time. Ever again, actually. He leans forward, resting an elbow on the counter as he props his chin up. ]

I don't mind raw, but there's something different when you food knows you're eating it...

[ Souji just looks down at the cats and smiles. Ah, this is the life. The really domestic life of cooking for a fellow protag while their two cats rub up against his legs. He could get used to this. ]

In a moment, girls.

[ He's not going to give them something raw, so he'd cook their portion of the fish alongside with his and Minato's. This would be ten times more delicious for them anyway. They'd just have to be willing to wait a short while for everything, but when do cats ever really listen? ]

Yeah, but it was kind of impressive, to be honest. I think it had a better singing voice than me, at least during that last song.

[ What is this cooking he speaks of? This little kitty doesn't really care how food is prepared as long as she can eat it. So she goes for another pass. When that doesn't seem to work, she chirps, stretching upwards to wave one paw at Souji while the other rests on his knee. Please?

Is there anything on the counter for Minato to snack on, though? Hmm...

...Wait, what? ]

...You got out-sung by a fish?

[ Cream-san follows Shirosaba's lead and mews so softly that with these two cars' efforts combined, Souji is having a real hard time trying to resist them. This is terrible. ]

Okay, okay, hold on. [ They have willed him and he takes a knife, cutting an extremely small portion off the extra fillet and placing it to the side. It's really nothing more than a single bite for them but it's better than giving them none at all and having to deal with their adorable eyes all day... After placing the broiler rack in the oven, he checks and ensures that there's no pieces of bone in the piece of fish he cut off. After finding none, he bends down and splits it in half, having each part in either one of his hands and holds them out. ] Here you go.

[ Hopefully, that should keep them satisfied for a bit longer, until everything's done. In the meanwhile, the giant cat on the stool can help himself to some random ingredients, such as bits of tofu or a package of cooked seaweed, while Souji proceeds to pet the little cats after they eat and smiles. ]

Well, it does have a better soprano than me. I think I'm not a bad singer, but even I know I can't hit a note like that.

[ Don't judge and be rude, Minato. Souji is cooking for you, okay. ]

[ Cats know how to work this shit. Their entire domesticated existence has to do with getting humans to do what they want. Shirosaba winds herself back and forth a few times until she sees the fish presented to her. She doesn't hesitate to perk up and take a few bites of the fish before she pulls it from his hand and takes a few steps back, allowing a few pets. A nice place on the other side of the counter seems good to chow down. Mmmmm, fish....

Minato totally takes that opportunity to reach forward into the seaweed package. They're like perfect little thin crackers when you think about it. Don't mind him as he starts to munch down too. ]

Mmm...Yeah. I didn't think fish had vocal chords.

[ Which, you know. Is impressive in and of itself. ]

...Do you think they have karaoke here?

[ Apparently so. Despite Souji's iron will, the cats have him give in far too easily and he smiles as both Shirosaba and Cream-san take the bits of fish to their own respective corners. Ah, cats. They're wonderful creatures. ]

[ He stands back up and washes his hand so he can start prepping other things, like the rice and soup. He totally notices that Minato has taken a seaweed packet. He won't say anything right now because he bought a few, but he will if he sees Minato mooching a bit too much. ]

Hm, they probably have some form of karaoke. People always like singing. [ This is something they should search for and find out. ] Are you interested in karaoking?

[ They will be back though, Souji. Once you feed them, they always come back...

...which actually applies to Minato, as well. Souji will find that out soon.

Also Minato will totally mooch too much. Just wait for it. He's already on his fourth piece with no end in sight, just sitting there like he deserves it. Munching. ]

Yeah. [ Is that surprising? He says it plainly. ] They had a good place back home.
