Since the twins are just hanging out at home for the moment, it would be tough for Yu to miss the subtle change that comes over Souji. Most other people might not notice it, but they're brothers, twins. They've only gotten to live together again for just a few weeks, all told. Yu still feels hyper aware of changes in Souji, anything he should be alert to or need to look after.
So when something does happen, it strikes Yu pretty much immediately. He doesn't know what causes him to glance up from the book he's reading, but whatever's wrong, he can see it right away in the set of Souji's posture. His expression clouding, Yu sets his book down and gets to his feet, moving towards his brother to take a seat beside him, instead.
He doesn't say anything at first, though. Just settles close and watches his face with concern, asking questions with body language instead of words. ]
Both Anya and Dave were shouted at in text and talked to in person after this came up in February. They won't be repeating their mistake again.
As for the other BS: I don't think anyone reads my mind. But I pointedly asked you if you'd checked that people had signed themselves up after saying no, which you ignored. I don't care about what's already happened, but getting told "I should have said something" is really irritating when I damn well did. You don't get to pass that off on me, Anya, or Dave.
[ To be completely honest... yes, Souji is not very pleased with Anya. She's nice and all, but no one likes being misled to believe something and then be yelled at about it. Plus, for that conversation to happen in public so Dante got involved and then for Yu to find out as well, it just became a huge mess and a headache. It certainly wasn't how he was planning on spending his afternoon. ]
[ He's a little surprised when he sees the deliveries on his front door the next day, but also finds himself... not super surprised either. If Anya's the type to leave a gift for Valentine's Day to someone she hardly knows, then she's probably also the type to try and apologize this way too. It doesn't really make everything okay and Souji sighs when he sees it because, well, it's a reminder of the problem of the previous day and that Anya is probably feeling pretty bad about everything, but he appreciates the effort. So right after he brings in the boxes, he sends her a text. ]
Thank you for the gifts, Anya. It was very cute, especially the note with all the cat puns.
But I want you to know that I'm not mad at you. I'm just very disappointed about how everything turned out and I only wish I knew about this problem earlier, so please don't fret over this too much.
disappointed is still a bad feeling souji should be happy because he did a nice thing for everyone i am still very sorry yuratchka and i are new friends and he is very important to me but there are things that i am still learning about him i did not know that he would be so upset or i would not have signed him up that is my fault and i am sorry that he is still angry a month later but he really is very sweet he did his best for iris i promise
[considering the fact that this is the longest text that she's written since her regain, it takes a solid amount of time to compose.
[ This certainly isn't how Souji was hoping to spend his afternoon at home. He didn't expect to hear anything like this after an entire month after the event and it hits him. It fills him up with a mess of emotions and he can't help but frown at his screen. He's not the type to wear his emotions on his sleeve (not when it's negative), but for someone like Yu, it's probably much easier for him to tell that something is off: with the slightly lowered shoulders, the narrowed eyes, the silent sigh, it's easier to tell when you've known someone your entire life. ]
[ Souji doesn't turn his head when Yu moves beside him, taking a seat. Instead, he just silently stares at his phone for a few more seconds before he lowers it, releasing another small sigh. ]
... There was a mistake with the blind dating sign-ups.
There were a few, [ Yu comments mildly, thinking of some of the people who had approached him that day at the table.
He keeps his gaze on Souji's face, and the way he shifts is almost imperceptible. But it's enough to allow their shoulders to brush, his silent show of support. ]
[ There are things Souji wants to say back, like he's not telling Yuri that he should have said something to him. That's not the point he was trying to make in his original text, but honestly, he feels like he doesn't want to add more fuel to the fire and to drag this out for a minor correction. He understands his faults in this and he'll just take it. No need to make this a bigger issue and just learn from it. ]
All right. I know my mistakes in this so I apologize. I'll check with you more carefully in the future if I run an event like this again.
[ Souji personally hasn't been notified by anyone who was signed up by a glitch, but he does know a lot of people who were signed up by their friends. Most of them were okay with the event after they found out who added their names to the event, or even if they weren't okay with it, they never took out their anger out on Souji. They've relented and left him alone. ]
[ But not Yuri Plisetsky. ]
[ He just gives a silent nod and he figures that it'd be a lot easier to explain the situation if Yu sees the conversation, so Souji hands over his phone to Yu with the thread open. It's currently updated to the part where Souji ends the conversation with Yuri, while he's still discussing with Dante, but it's definitely still a hot mess and it's a mess that Souji did not want to deal with. ]
[ Yu looks at him for only a moment more before taking the phone and scrolling through the thread. His expression doesn't really give anything away, or wouldn't, to anyone who wasn't Souji. But there's the slightest downturn of his lips, so slight it might not even seem like a change of expression if you weren't looking for it.
That didn't go very well, did it.
They had their fair share of unhappy customers, but really, most people had rolled with it, not taking it seriously or even seeing it as the opportunity they'd meant it to be. But Yuri...
Yu feels it's unfair, for Yuri to take it out on his twin. He makes some decent points, but in organizing something that large, it would have been extremely time consuming to reach out individually to every single participant to verify their signup, whether they'd intended to be involved or not. He's asking more than he thinks he is and guilt tripping Souji in so doing. It's not really all that fair.
But Yu doesn't voice those thoughts aloud. At least, not yet. Instead, one of his hands finds one of Souji's, and he twines their pinky fingers together. A gesture from when they were children, something he'd do when he wanted a connection to his brother. It's something he associates with comfort, and he hopes it's the same for Souji. ]
