If you don't wish to speak to me about what truly happened, you hardly have to. I shan't force the issue, and I shan't tell anyone about it. But I am a scientist, and my interest is purely scientific. I'd like to understand what's happening to you, and hopefully through understanding, you can get a measure of control over it.

I appreciate the offer. I truly do but to be completely honest, I'm not entirely too sure if whatever happened could be explained with science. I don't understand a lot of it either.

Then to put it shortly, I've been able to summon a sort of fire demon for the past few weeks. I didn't do anything in particular to obtain it. It just appeared one day and be called upon.

2. How do you summon it?
3. Can you control it?

1. Not that I'm aware of, no.
2. I focus and think of summoning it. Everything seems to be done through thoughts.
3. Yes, but to a certain extent. I have been getting better at it, but I am having difficulty with its range of attacks or spells.

Is it at all sentient, or an extension of your own self?

What attacks or spells can it do, precisely?

I'd say it's more of an extension of myself. It feels like it's a part of me like it's residing within me until I call it out.

It seems mostly fire-orientated, so a lot of its spells involve large bursts of fire, but it does have one that seems to be a silencing spell. The effects wear off but the time seems to vary from person to person.

What were the demographics you tested it on? Gender, age, height, that sort of thing - that might be why it varies.

I didn't test on them. It was an accident.

[ He has to correct her on that because "testing" makes it sound like he purposely inflicted these spells on people and he already feels bad enough about what happened. ]

But the first person is a middle-aged man. It took him longer to get over the effects than the second person, who's a girl around my age.

So age might be a factor, or gender. It would be worth a few deliberate tests; personally, I'd volunteer in an instant.

Tell me: if it feels like a part of yourself, but it was an accident . . . was there a part of you that wished these people would be quiet?

I don't know if I'm comfortable enough with doing that. I don't want to harm you in any way.

No! Not at all. I never even thought of something like that. It's hard to explain. It's like a power that I can use but I don't have full control over it. I never wished anything like that at all.

I assure you, I can take care of myself. My safety wouldn't be a factor, not in pursuit of knowledge.

But it would be. I wouldn't be able to forgive myself if I were to hurt you, even accidentally.

There didn't seem to be any lasting side effects from the silencing spell but that doesn't mean we should rule it out.

I'll be monitoring my own vitals anyway. It'll be easy to check if there are any differences from before and after.

Then that will be my problem to deal with, and you'll have more information on the potential repercussions of your powers.

I'm sorry, but I still don't feel comfortable enough to go through with it. I don't know what you could say to possibly change my mind.

[ Souji's so against anything like this. He could practise his fire skills but never this silencing one because there will always be a target. Sorry, Ros, but Souji's kind of firm on this. ]

[ He truly is Ardyn's nephew, sorry to say. He has some reservations about her even watching but after a bit of thought, he gives in. She is offering to help and he does think he has better control over it... ]

All right, but we must establish some ground rules before you can observe.

I'd rather have you either right behind me or at a long distance away, and if it seems to be getting too dangerous, I'd like to stop immediately.

Is there a specific day of the week or time you are free?
