If you head back home first, do you mind just pulling out the extra futon we have? Tatsuma's going to be staying with us for a while until we figure everything out.
Can you also tell Yosuke that I'm sorry I can't attend? I was really looking forward to his party.
[ and souji does come home eventually, dragging in a rather beat-up tatsuma while not looking so well himself. even with his personas, they can only heal so much so little stains of purple and red linger in his left cheek. the pain has at least lessened and he quietly takes tatsuma upstairs and makes sure that he's tucked in. he stays with the other boy until he falls asleep, ensuring that he gets the much-needed rest that he deserves before he goes out to seek yu. it's so late at night though, way past midnight so he has no idea if yu is awake or not but he goes over to yu's room and knocks softly on the door. if he gets no answer then he'll leave but if he does, then this may be a good time to talk to his brother on what he wants to do ]
[ Yu is not in his room, but rather coming up the stairs behind his brother. He was in the basement doing laundry when he heard Souji return home, and he makes it upstairs in time to catch his brother knocking on his door. He's holding a laundry basket.
This he drops in shock once he gets close enough to see that Souji's hurt, and he rushes over to his brother, putting his hands on Souji's shoulders. ]
[ souji doesn’t turn towards you until he hears the laundry basket drop, his reaction time slow and sluggish with the little energy he has left. he spent a majority of the night running after tatsuma before he got involved in the bar fight and even though he’s become proficient in using his personas, using kohryu’s healing spells multiples times takes a toll on him. so as he stands before yu, his shoulders are slumped and his hair is not as neat as it normally is. ]
[ when yu asks about him, asks what happened, he’s almost tempted to shrug off the concerns and to say that it looks worse than it actually is. he refrains only because he remembers his promise to yu, that he’ll be honest and to always tell the truth, so that’s what does ]
I got into a fight.
[ he looks at yu while he speaks but the exhaustion is on his face ]
I healed as much as I could with Kohryu. It doesn’t hurt as much anymore.
[ His horror mixes with anger, but that doesn't get expressed except on his face. His mouth presses into a thin line, and he won't say anything as he holds out a hand and crushes a tarot card. Kohryu will have to hover above the house, but that's alright. He can still cast Mediarahan from there.
There... was a lot going on at once. It ended as soon as it began.
[ souji could barely even think while he was dealing with all everything. one minute he's trying to stop tatsuma from trying to kill someone, the next, he's stuck on healing duty and tending to cuts and broken bones. it was... a long time, but he does sound apologetic, though. ]
[ souji lets out a deep breath, trying to figure out where to start. he supposes that just being direct about everything is the best way to approach this ]
... Tatsuma's grandparents passed away because of a hit-and-run. The only information we were given about the accident was where it occurred and what model the car was. We didn't get a license plate or a description of the driver but Tatsuma... he didn't really care. He just wanted someone to be responsible.
[ souji's hands open and close as he speaks, balling up into fists for a second before releasing ]
He found the same car model outside of a bar and went in to find the driver. I tried to stop him, along with some of our friends, but we couldn’t get him the budge. As a result, he eventually got bottled over the head. This—
[ he tilts his head to the left, showing off his bruised cheek ]
[ Yu listens quietly, letting Kohryu fade away once the dragon's work is done. He may cast another heal in the morning, if he thinks it's needed. A bar fight... The only indication of his feelings is a faint frown that doesn't move much during Souji's whole story.
In the end he just ... sighs, unhappy for more reasons than he can name. ]
I wouldn't have thought he was the type for revenge. [ murmured softly, and without any real inflection. more concern seeps into his voice when he continues. ] ... he'll need someone to watch over him. Do you want me to stay here tonight?
[ the swelling lessens and the purple shade of the bruises fades into a more skin-like colour but unfortunately, evidence of some sort of injury still remains. another healing in the morning would help. ]
[ souji doesn't move when yu touches his arm. he doesn't even look down but he nods. he nods and after a second, he moves forward to press his forehead against yu's. ]
[ Sighing through his nose, Yu lets his eyes slip shut as he leans just a little into his brother. He knows Souji is hurting in more ways than one, and it hurts him to know it.
He'll linger for a long moment, really as long as Souji wants him to, but eventually he'll break off with one last look before moving to grab the laundry basket he dropped earlier. He'll move away to sort it, and soon after depart.

No, I'll be with him. You don't have to stay, Yu.
