On a rainy day, Souji visits the Chinese Diner Aiya at the Central Shopping District to take on their rainy day challenge: if he finishes the Mega Beef Bowl (the quintuple-sized bowl) then it's free but otherwise, it costs ¥3000. He orders the bowl and as he eats, he begins to suspect that this bowl is a portal to the Meat Dimension.
In order to finish, Souji realizes that he needs certain characteristics: understanding of his limits, knowledge to control his pace, the courage to face the unrelenting tide of beef, and diligence to persevere against the colossal challenge. All these traits are necessary to master the Rainy Day Special Mega Beef Bowl Challenge!
After many minutes, Souji finishes the bowl and his personality grows tremendously. The owner congratulates Souji on completing his meal and says that the meal is free since he finished. With a full stomach, Souji then heads home.

In this rank up, due to Constitution Day, Souji has the day off and while coming downstairs from his room, he runs into Nanako who is watching TV. She greets him and when the doorbell rings, she gets up to open the front door with him to let in Chie. Chie asks Souji and Nanako if they want to go somewhere and with a little bit of nudging, Nanako agrees to go out with them.
The three of them travel to the Junes food court where they meet with Yosuke and Yukiko. Yosuke asks why Chie and Souji brought Nanako to a place like Junes on Golden Week but Nanako reassures Yosuke, saying that she loves the department store. She admits that she was supposed to go on a real trip and make boxed lunches but it didn't happen. Yukiko asks if Nanako could make boxed lunches and she shakes her head, looking at Souji instead. Chie says that she's impressed and jokingly calls him "big bro". She then says that she's probably a good cook and would make some boxed lunches as well if anyone asked. Yosuke doesn't believe her and Chie challenges him to a cook-off with Nanako as the judge. Yosuke says that they'll make something that rivals with Nanako's mother but Nanako then reveals that her mother died in an accident. Yosuke tries to awkwardly apologize but Nanako says that it's okay. Even if she doesn't have a mother, she still has her father and now she has an older brother. She says that she's having a lot of fun today and the group says that they'll always play with her.
Yosuke then offers to get Nanako a soda and both Chie and Yukiko follows while Souji stays at the table. Nanako then returns to ask if he wants anything and if they want to share some takoyaki.

In the Central Shopping District of Inaba, Dojima's car pulls up to a gas station, Moel. Upon arriving, an employee greets Dojima, Nanako, and Souji and Nanako get out of the car to look for the washroom. The employee tells her that the washroom is in the back to her left, the "side you don't hold your chopsticks in". Embarrassed, Nanako runs off and Souji gets out of the car.
The employee then asks if they're going on a trip and Dojima explains that they just went to pick Souji up as he just moved to Inaba from the big city. After this, Dojima tells the employee to fill up his car while he goes off for a smoke and the employee inquires whether or not Souji is in high school. They continue to say that it must surprise a city boy to see how little there is in the countryside and that he'll probably get bored fast. They suggest that maybe Souji could work part-time at the gas station as they don't mind if he's a student and they reach over to shake his hand. Looking down at it, Souji shakes their hand and Nanako returns shortly afterwards.
The employee leaves to get back to work and Souji immediately feels dizzy, a flash of white crossing his eyes. Nanako asks if he's carsick and points out that he doesn't look very good. Souji chalks it up to exhaustion from the long trip and when Dojima returns to ask if he's all right, Souji just answers saying that he's just tired. Dojima then allows for Souji to walk around for a bit to get some fresh air and after walking around a bit, they get back into the car to drive off to Dojima's home.
At the Junes food court, Souji waits at one of the tables when Yosuke walks up. He holds two items behind his back, apologizing for the wait and explains that he found "some stuff" in a closet at home that they could use. He then pulls out a katana in one hand and a nata in the other, right in the middle of a semi-populated area. He explains that while they might have their Personas, they need weapons and he asks Souji which one he prefers. Souji answers that he prefers the katana and Yosuke reveals that the blade's fake. Yosuke then answers his own question, saying that maybe both will be good and then he begins to wave the two fake weapons around. While he does this, an officer walks by and notices them.
The officer reports into his walkie-talkie about two suspicious young males and how one of them (Yosuke) is armed with multiple weapons. He begins to request immediate backup and at this, both Yosuke and Souji take notice of the cop. Souji stands up and Yosuke immediately starts talking about how this isn't what it looks like and how he didn't steal the weapons. He says that they're just two ordinary kids who like weapons and immediately realizes how bad this sounds before the officer tells him to put down the weapons. The officer demands Yosuke to put his hands where he could see them so he could take them to the station. Yosuke panics and pulls the weapons in front of him and the officer mistakes this as resistant to the law and arrests both Souji and Yosuke. Right at this moment, backup arrives and takes both boys to the station as suspects.
In an unknown foggy location, Souji finds himself sitting in a moving limo with a man with a long nose (Igor) and a woman with pale blonde hair (Margaret). The man speaks up first, introducing himself as Igor and explains that they're in a place that exists between dream and reality, mind and matter. This location can only be entered by those who are bounded by a contract and states that Souji may be one of those bounded people.
After Souji introduces himself, Igor does a quick fortune telling on Souji using tarot cards, pulling out an upright Tower and upright Moon. The Tower represents immediate catastrophe in the near future and the Moon represents hesitation and mystery. Igor goes on to then explain that a great mystery will be imposed on Souji and that he will encounter misfortune in the next few days. In addition, he will enter into a contract of some sorts and then return to this limo. He then warns that if Souji does not solve the mystery over the following year, his future may be forever lost as the coming year is a turning point in his destiny. He introduces Margaret, the woman sitting next to her, and then says that he will explain in further detail at another time. Souji then wakes up from the dream.
